My post today is meant to give y’all confidence.
This was a family shoot…sort of. Here’s the story. These dogs are litter mates. Yeah, I know. They don’t look alike, but litter mates they are. Greyhound folks are a close knit group. They all work very hard to make the remaining years of their charges be the very best. As all these dogs are purebred and records are kept online, a little Google search will find litter mates Such was the case here.
One of the humans found the others and organized this “family” portraiture session. They’re all members of the Greyhound Pets of America (GPA) and arrived from all over. This week I’m finalizing the 2010 GPA calendar layout and I came across the image in the left. I couldn’t exactly put it in the calendar, but it’s a perfect example of the organized chaos that is sometimes witnessed in the studio.
I had to laugh out loud when I saw this image again and wanted to share it with you. You see, it doesn’t always go smoothly.

I love it! I am Dax’s mom (the blue greyhound). The hounds are, from left to right, Lago Bud (Bud), Lago Dave (Dax), Lago Fox (Fox) and Lago Andrew (Andrew). These 4 boys were placed by GPA-LA/MS at different times during a year and a half period. They may not all look alike, but their personalities are, for the most part, very similar. We all wanted to get a photo taken of the boys together. We had fostered Andrew not long before this. It was tough to get the four boys to come together, but it worked out in the end. Since this time, Fox’s mom had to return him to our group due to a change in her life, and we are currently fostering him. He is up for adoption now and I hope he will get a wonderful home, as he had before. Hopefully it will be forever this time. Also, right before this shoot, Fox was diagnosed with SLO. It is under control and he is doing well. Hugs to all the “Lago” boys! We love them all!!!!
