Joey the Pom and Molly, identified as a Choweenie, by her mom, are well-loved house mates who like each other too. I know Molly is supposed to be part Chow, but you couldn’t prove it by me. She looks pretty dang Weenie, huh? No matter, they both are adorable.
A great squeaky toy can really get your subjects to think. When dogs think and concentrate hard, they look so intense and cute that it would be difficult not to get a pretty good shot. It bears mentioning again that when you’re out and about, especially in dog toy stores, make all the toys holler, and get the ones that produce the most unusual sounds for your trick bag. It’s best that the ones you use for your photography are not the ones the dogs play with on a daily basis so they remain veeeery interested in the noise when you drag out the camera. But don’t think that great sounds can only be found in the dog toy isle. Try baby toys. Uh huh. Why should human babies get all the fun? Remember, though, the toys bought in the human side of the store are not dog safe.
Speaking of dog safe, I want to point out the section in the left sidebar, Fav Blogs. There will be some really important information for you on the All Things Dog Blog, but also be sure to check out her store, HappyDogsPlay.com. All the toys in that store have been tested for lead and other chemicals. You can trust them to be completely dog safe. Our cats actually love some of the toys as well.
Of course The Soul of a Horse Blog is just fantastic. I love Joe Camp’s writing and I love to read the stories of his horses. He wrote, produced and directed all the Benji movies. Also, if you love horses, read his latest book The Soul of a Horse. It is a wonderful story of horses and living and loving in the world. Check it out. By the way, Joe’s wife Kathleen is a pretty good photographer too. Her work is all over that site. I particularly love the photo of Joe and Cash. It’s on the Mouse Returns Home Post. Look for it. It’s the one where Joe is standing in front of Cash. The lines are beautiful. Kathleen’s a little shy about her photography, but I’ve been trying to talk her into posting something here. It seems a lot of you are shy about posting. Don’t be. We’re mighty gentle here.
You may wonder why I don’t have more than a couple of blogs listed. Well, I will be adding more, but I have a rule about it. I want you to trust the information I put up. That means I need to read a blog or review a store for a whle before I put it in my sidebar. I’ve just added another. Sarah Beth Photography is the new link. I suggest you check out her blog. She’s inspiring. Her work is quite different from mine, but she’s a very talented photographer. Sarah Beth works in and around the Twin Cities (Minnesota) area.
I think it’s very important to view the kind of photography you want to create. Look at many photographers. You like something about a photo? Then try to duplicate it. That’s how you’ll learn. Be inspired.
