We are hurt, but we’re bold and powerful as well. Yes, we still cry, but we laugh too. Just like the sweet and personable Bella, pictured here. Yesterday was the 4th anniversary of the landfall of the devastating Hurricane Katrina. Those are her three Greyhounds. Make it larger and [...] This is a new scenic at Sisters Pet Pics. Shiloh and her house sister, Bella, were the first to be photographed on it. If you’re not sure if it’s real or not, ask the dogs. Bella kept walking up to the shuttered door to be let in the house! Shiloh, on the other hand, took [...] Can’t we all just get along? Come on, that’s funny … So, you think pet photography means the soft cuddly kind of subjects; well, I regard all the creatures around me as charges. I’m sworn to protect them…therefore, to me they’re pets, especially when they’re in my yard. It’s not much of a leap for me to think of them as pets then. Today the topic is photographing eyes. If you are trying to get a nice photograph of a shaggy-around-the-eyes dog, you want to make some preparation. Unless my subject is an Old English Sheepdog, whose eyes are supposed to be hidden, I try to make a point of having the human companion do a trim around [...] You met Nikki as a good citizen in the Good Citizenship post. She’s a tiny sweet Pomeranian who is kept clipped short most of the year. I’ve mentioned this before, but to me Poms seem to have a built-in halo around their heads. I know Nikki does. Of all the things you need to be thinking about when shooting pets, posing them is probably the number one challenge. They’re pets, after all. None of them come in with Lassie-type skills. I sometimes ask the human companion if the dog(s) know any commands. I always laugh when I ask this of Greyhounds’ humans. [...] Okay, so kill me…I’m a Saints fan. There, I said it. I can’t deny that my TV screen has some smudges on it from the pillows I’ve thrown at it in seasons past; nevertheless, I’m a fan. It’s still pre-season, but maybe this is our year.
